Returning after a year hiatus, Honeypot 7 found a home at a new venue, and UGS returned to provide the main broadcast for the event.

Taking place the same weekend as Riptide 2025, this event featured “Battleship” singles for people looking to compete in games not hosted at Riptide.

Top Cut Event’s Roanoke Regionals
This multi-game regional took place in Roanoke, VA and featured Dragon Ball Super: Masters, Dragon Ball Super: Fusion World, Union Arena, and Digimon Card Game. The event marked UGS’s first time travelling by plane for TCG events.

Back again at Frosty Faustings, UGS once again provided one of the broadcasts for Vortex Gallery, which handled the massive amount of side event games for the event.

One of the few events that UGS Gaming has worked that has not including Super Smash Bros. titles, this event focused on Rivals of Aether and Rivals of Aether II. UGS Gaming provided the broadcast for the event.

Taking place at the Godfrey Hotel in Chicago, Red Bull Legends Inn was an incredibly ambitious invitational-style event that had players competing over a local network across three floors of hotel rooms and a stage set up in the meeting and bar area.

Our first large-scale Trading Card Game event, the One Piece Card Game Regionals in Peoria, Illinois has UGS broadcasting the event and bringing a level of quality to production that was previously unseen from livestreams for the game.

One of our most ambitious events to date, Saturday Stadium 4 Golden managed to get national attention with is talent pool and strong aesthetic. After easily hitting its 256 entrant cap, the event ended up being one of the best- if not the single best- received events UGS has created.

Saturday Stadium 3
Saturday Stadium’s success continued in the third iteration, Saturday Stadium 3: Trials and Tribulations. While consisting almost exclusively of Chicagoland players, the event had the largest player turnout in the series yet.

Travelling back to Illinois Wesleyan University, UGS Gaming provided the livestream and additional equipment for Smash of the Titans 8.

Northstar II had UGS travelling to another new state- this time, Minnesota. UGS was contracted out to provide livestream services for the event, and crucial insight during the event helped it finish within the allotted time.

Full Bloom 2024
It had been five years since Full Bloom 5, the previous entry into this event series. Full Bloom 2024 was an ambitious event, and with UGS’s help providing equipment, running the livestream for Project+, and running the tournament for Project+, it was able to finish successfully. Originally inteded to be the final event in the series, the possibility of another installment is now being floated.

Midwest Esports Invitational
Continuing UGS Gaming’s involvement with collegiate Smash events, the DuPage County Sports Commission sought out UGS’s help with the Midwest Esports Invitational when prior contacts had fallen through. Providing both consultation and livestream production, UGS helped the event become a success with a promising future ahead.

Genesis X
One of the most prestigious Smash event series- if not THE most prestigious- is Genesis. Taking place in San Jose, CA, Genesis X marked the first time UGS Gaming travelled by plane to provide services to an event. Once again under Level1, UGS provided the livestream for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 at Genesis X. Additionally, UGS staff assisted the broadcast production team behind the Top 8 finals show for Genesis X, by far the most complex broadcasting production that UGS Gaming has taken part of.

2024 started off with UGS returning to Frosty Faustings, once again providing one of many livestreams and assisting in running some of the ongoing tournaments at the event.

After a year hiatus, Sixty Six Games returned this year with Sixty Six Games Expo 2023. Despite uncertainties during event planning, UGS was able to return to the event to provide livestreaming services.

UGS was brought back this year to The Big House 11, this time under Level1, another event broadcasting company. UGS was quickly solidifying itself as a consistent group for livestreaming major events across the Midwest.

Two Day War
A follow-up to the previous year’s One Day War, Two Day War expanded upon what was done, and provided competition across two days. UGS once again handled the event’s livestream.

An event with direct ties to the Milwaukee Bucks, Cream City Convergence contracted UGS Gaming to provide the livestream for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Undertow 2023
Undertow’s tendency to push the limits of last-minute planning and work came to a peak with this year’s Undertow 2023. Originally cancelled less than a month prior, UGS took up the mantle to restore the event, manage financials and planning, and execute tournaments during the event. Despite being set up to fail, through the efforts of UGS, other groups, and one of the most resilient gaming communities, Undertow 2023 was a success.

Riptide 2023
For Riptide’s third year, UGS Gaming was given even more responsibility- three different livestreams during the event, and a livestream for the lead-up event on the day prior. Riptide continues to be a great display of the sheer volume of work that UGS can handle at a single event.

Tripoint Smash 200
Five years after starting, Tripoint Smash finally reached its 200th event. Featuring a long list of tournaments each with a pot bonus provided, free food for attendees, and a pass for free entry to Riptide 2023 happening in the next month, this was the perfect way to celebrate the milestone.

PM Concert: Symphony
With the experienced gained from working on the Midwest Ultimate Invitational, UGS executed its own invitational event for Project+, PM Concert: Symphony.

Warp Zone 2
After the previous year’s massively successful Warp Zone, a lot of planning went into ensuring the follow-up event would be even better. With Warp Zone 2, UGS included several new titles in the game lineup, added two more livestreams, and partnered with several other Chicago-based groups to help make the event a success. Most notably, the event was moved to a new, larger venue and took place over the course of two days, making it UGS Gaming’s first two-day event.

Invincible VII
In its next entry into the series, Invincible VII put even more faith into the UGS team, trusting them to run all three streams, provide equipment, and run the Project+ tournament. After unexpected life situations arose, UGS was also able to step in and complete assets required for the event to run.

Midwest Ultimate Invitational
Through the first half of 2023, competitors at several Smash Ultimate events in the Midwest were vying for invites to the Midwest Ultimate Invitational, set to take place in Iowa. With 24 total players from across the Midwest competing over three days with a massive focus on high quality production, UGS Gaming was brought on to be the team responsible for ensuring the show was top-notch.

This time traveling to St. Louis, UGS was contracted to provide equipment and run both the bracket and secondary livestream at Gateway Legends, a Super Smash Bros Ultimate event that took place at Ballpark Village. With a one-of-a-kind venue, the production quality and spectator experience was among the best for even major events.

Featuring the best high school talent for Valorant, Rocket League, and Brawlhalla, HSEL Finals contracted UGS to run two livestreams during the course of the event.

An ongoing weekly event series in the Chicagoland area, TGS Smash, began planning to run larger iterations on a bi-monthly basis. For these bi-monthly events, TGS looked to UGS Gaming to provide the livestream. These bi-monthly larger events are currently ongoing.

Honeypot 5: The Honey Heist
Honeypot continued to grow with its fifth iteration, and following UGS’s advice, the main stream for Super Smash Bros Ultimate was moved into a movie theater within the venue. Once again, UGS provided multiple streams, equipment, and ran the Project+ tournament at the event.

An event dedicated to a different game than what UGS Gaming would typically be associated with, One Day War was Chicagoland’s first event dedicated exclusively to Rivals of Aether. UGS was in charge of providing the livestream for the event.

The answer was Tripoint Stadium, named due to using the same venue of Tripoint Smash. The Big House 10 marked UGS’s first time traveling to Michigan. Another major event series, The Big House is a very long running series with a detailed history behind it. UGS was trusted with one of several livestreams under Waveform, another event broacast production company.

Again alongside Riptide, Undertow 2022 was a joint effort between UGS Gaming and other groups. UGS provided a majority of the equipment, ran the main livestream, and took the lead for running event operations. The event also tested UGS’ ability to resolve issues quickly with required assets being completed the night before after other parties left them incomplete.

UGS Gaming partnered with Anime Magic for the third year in a row to bring a Super Smash Bros Ultimate event to the convention, but this time with a different name and the addition of a Guilty Gear Strive tournament.

Traveling back to Wisconsin for the first time since Smash n Splash 5, UGS was trusted with multiple livestreams, as well as managing the Project+ tournament, at Invincible VI.

Warp Zone
A significant milestone for both UGS Gaming and the Chicagoland Smash community, Warp Zone was the first massive regional event in the area to happen since Midwest Mayhem Ultimate, 4 years earlier. This was also UGS’s most ambitious project to date, by a large margin. featuring over $1,000 in pot bonuses, flown-out talent, a hotel venue, and a unique bracket format that inspired many other organizations to do more for their competitors, Warp Zone is one of UGS Gaming’s crowning achievements.

Running as an extension of Tripoint Smash, Super TPS II Combo Breaker Edition was made to pair with the Project+ tournament taking place at Combo Breaker over the same weekend. Similar to Joey’s Birthday Bash earlier in the year, the event saw a very high attendance.

UGS found itself at another anime convention, Anime Central, thanks to its connection with Low Kick Esports. The tournament and broadcast for Super Smash Bros Ultimate was handled by UGS Gaming at the con.

Another Low Kick Esports event, Super Saturdays Deluxe brought on UGS to handle one of multiple broadcasts for the event.

Danville Dust-Up 2
Returning to Danville for Danville Dust-Up 2, UGS showed new flexibility by broadcasting this event with a less experienced broadcasting team while a separate team handled the broadcast of another event on the same day. Both broadcasts were completed without issue.

Another weekly series, Game Knight took place at a game store by the same name in Summit, IL. The store reached out to UGS for consultation and assistance in running the event, but the series ultimately did not last for long.

Honeypot 3: Fight for the Bees
After the success of the previous event in the series, UGS was welcomed back to Honeypot 3 to once again run the livestream for Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Project+ and run the Project+ tournament.

The first grassroots weekend event run by UGS top-to-bottom since the return of events post-quarantine, Galeforce was a Super Smash Bros Ultimate-focused event spearheaded by Lemmay, who was new to the UGS team at the time.

Belong Launch Weekend
A gaming lounge franchise prominent in Europe, Belong began to open locations in the United States in 2022. To celebrate the launch of the Schaumburg, IL location, they contracted UGS to plan, run, and livestream a Super Smash Bros Ultimate event.

Joey’s Birthday Bash
Alongside Frosty Faustings XIV, UGS ran a special version of Tripoint Smash, titled Joey’s Birthday Bash after a prominent community member. The event had very high attendance for the games involved, and the name would return next year with an even stronger event

UGS returned to Iowa for a different event series’ second iteration, Honeypot 2. UGS was trusted with the livestream for Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Project+ and assisted other streams as needed. UGS also ran the Project+ tournament at the event.

Danville Dust-Up
Taking place at the Danville Area Community College, Danville Dust-Up’s livestream was handled by UGS Gaming. Thanks to the college’s media equipment, production was exceptionally good.

Roundhouse 2021
The fighting game community in Chicago is very large, and the group responsible for most events in the area is Low Kick Esports. Low Kick Esports put UGS in charge of one of many livestreams at Roundhouse 2021 , and the team also assisted in running the tournaments taking place.

Sixty Six Games 2021
Sixty Six Games 2021 served as UGS’s second foray into high school Smash and to no surprise, they were trusted with the livestream for the event.

Undertow
Alongside Riptide, Undertow ran in a separate venue down the street. The event spawned from a last-minute cut from Riptide’s game lineup, and planning was done with little to no time. UGS ran the livestream for the event, and Undertow would be the first “shadow major” to take place.

Riptide
The first major event happening after the return of in-person Smash events post-quarantine, Riptide took up the mantle as the waterpark event series. UGS was trusted with multiple livestreams at the event.

AM! Smash
Following the relationship formed over quarantine, Anime Magic contracted UGS Gaming to plan, run, and broadcast a Super Smash Bros Ultimate event at their in-person event in 2021.

Tripoint Smash 101
16 months after Tripoint 100, Tripoint Smash 101 took place and brought a return to in-person Smash events in the Chicagoland area. Following guidelines to ensure the safety of all attendees, 199 competitors were finally able to return. They were met with a refreshed look to Tripoint’s branding and livestreams.

IL High School WiFi Series Season 2 Finals
Others in the Chicagoland Smash community were also doing what they could to provide events. The IL High School WiFi Series ran for two seasons with online events, and season 2 ended with an in-person finals event(with many precautions in place). UGS was trusted with developing graphics and assisting with streaming the event.

Anime Magic Online
Of course, Smash events were not the only events that had to adapt to an online format. Anime Magic, a Chicago-based anime convention, ran an online event in 2020 featuring a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament. This tournament was organized, ran, and broadcasted by UGS.

Friday Night Netplay
Just under a month after the start of quarantine, UGS started an online weekly event, Friday Night Netplay. Functioning as both a way to provide competition and keep the local community together, Friday Night Netplay ran for 50 weeks, with the final event taking place on May 14, 2021.

Tripoint Smash 100
To celebrate 100 weeks of Tripoint Smash, UGS announced multiple pot bonuses to bracket prize pools, top competitors from out of state, and a pass giveaway to an upcoming event. Despite the efforts, no one could have predicted that the event would reach 300 attendees. Unfortunately, this event would also mark a temporary halt to in-person events. COVID-related quarantine started shortly after.

The Thunderdome
The Thunderdome was UGS’s first event in Iowa. UGS was quickly becoming the go-to team for livestream production, and this event added to the trend.

Capitols Classic 2020
UGS worked with the Illinois High School Esports Association to bring the best production Illinois high school Smash had seen yet. Despite the success of this event, the onset of COVID-related quarantine prevented any future collaboration from happening.

Limit Breaker
Announced at Thwacked, Limit Breaker was UGS’s unique take on the Arcadian format. Limit Breaker featured 12 invited players and 12 additional players who earned their spots competing at Chicagoland events during the month leading up to the event.

Thwacked
With a Dragon Quest-inspired theme, Thwacked was a strong start to the themed events that UGS is well known for. Strong competition, multiple brackets, and some of UGS’ best production at the time made this an unforgettable event for many.

Smash Bash 2019 was a Halloween-themed event that took place in western Illinois that contracted UGS to run the livestream.. UGS still actively works with many people involved with this event.

Show Me Your Moves 20
The longest running Smash Bros event series and the other half of the event pair running out of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Show Me Your Moves contracted UGS for livestream production and equipment at their 20th event.

Smash n Splash 5
UGS was welcome back at Smash n Splash 5 to once again run livestreams during the event. Although this would be the last entry in the series, the connections made here would bring the team to another waterpark-based event series in the future.

Full Bloom 5
Another high-profile event series, Full Bloom 5 was Indiana’s major event for the year. UGS supported the event with equipment and assisted with the livestream for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Spring Training
After the success of New Game Plus, the UGS team was excited to run another large weekend event of their own. Spring Training was advertised as an event where attendees could prepare for Smash n Splash 5 coming up in just a few months, and it featured singles and doubles brackets for 3 games.

House of Paign 20
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s first larger event featuring Super Smash Bros Ultimate, House of Paign 20 had UGS Gaming provide the livestream for Smash Ultimate.

GameStorm Smash
In early 2019, UGS was asked to help run a small weekly event at a game store in Lemont, IL. It ran for 24 weeks with the final event taking place on July 16, 2019.

Midwest Mayhem Ultimate
The final entry into the Midwest Mayhem series, Midwest Mayhem Ultimate saw out of state and overseas talent coming to compete in the new game. Originally set to once again cover the side stream, UGS was bumped up to main stream when it was apparent that it was much higher quality than the other stream.

New Game Plus
With the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, UGS hosted an overnight launch event, New Game Plus. With just under 200 entrants into the Super Smash Bros Ultimate bracket, this was the second largest launch event for the game in the world.

House of Paign 19
Another long-running event series, House of Paign is one of two event series ran out of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We provided the livestream for Smash 4 at the event, and we continue to support this event series with livestreaming now.

Midwest Mayhem 12
A long-running event series, Midwest Mayhem was known as the definitive Chicago event for Smash 4. We provided the secondary stream for the event, and we would be back at the next iteration with even more of an impact.

Southland Scramble: Fight Night
Southland Scramble returns, this time as a multi-game event! With a focus on showmatches, UGS added unique flair to the event with customized match announcement screens, promotion videos, and more.

Alphacon 2018
A unique event that has little to no trace of existence remaining, AlphaCon 2018 was a gaming event focused on Fortnite. They contracted UGS to broadcast their Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament.

Smash n Splash 4
The success of Tripoint did not go unnoticed- just months after starting, UGS Gaming was offered a streaming position at a massive annual event in Wisconsin, Smash n Splash 4. We worked alongside Unrivaled Tournaments, VGBootCamp, Games HQ, and others at this event to bring our broadcasting ability out of state and on a big stage for the first time.

Tripoint Smash 1
Currently ongoing, Tripoint Smash was the first weekly Smash event in Chicagoland that consistently ran brackets for three games with strong production behind three livestreams. To support this, the UGS team more than doubled in size, and this dramatic shift saw 99 attendees for this first week. To many, this was the true start to UGS Gaming.

Southland Scramble
A week after the final Battleground: Chicagoland, Southland Scramble was run as a Melee-only event. Originally planned to be a monthly series, it would not come back for almost a year.

Battleground: Chicagoland
Starting as a monthly series to pair with UGS Weekly, Battleground: Chicagoland was a bi-monthly event series focusing on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U that took place in the same venue, but in a different, much larger space. With a clear bump in production quality, this series was the start of UGS Gaming truly forming its identity as a top-quality broadcasting group. The series ended after Battleground: Chicagoland 3 on November 11, 2017.

Monday Night Melee
A couple months before the end of the UGS Weekly series, the team began running Super Smash Bros. Melee out of the same venue but with a different name, Monday Night Melee. Later entries in the event series added a second title, Project M, to the game lineup. This weekly series continued well past the end of UGS Weekly with the 26th and final entry happening on February 19, 2018.

UGS Weekly
After the end of CAC Smash, UGS started a weekly event series aptly named UGS Weekly. This ran for 28 weeks with the final event happening on September 4th, 2017.

CAC Smash
UGS started hosting events back in June of 2016 with CAC Smash, A Super Smash Bros. for Wii U event hosted in the same venue we now use for Tripoint Smash. With the first iteration running off of a single setup, it’s a miracle the bracket finished! UGS continued the monthly series with 4 more iterations, and CAC Smash 5 took place on October 28th, 2016.
